Farragut North Review

The Unicorn Theater is the kind of place every great city should embrace.  It is local, on the edge, and honest.  Farragut North is the latest play to take the Unicorn Stage.  It is a political drama focusing on Stephen, 25 year old press secretary, as he navigates a campaign.

The play opens in a bar as Stephen controls the campaign and demonstrates his composure with a reporter and campaign manager.  The play is written by Beau Willimon who has worked several campaigns give unique insights and provides candid dialogue.  As many political plays and movies are available this seems to be the most honest and true insight I have seen.

Farragut North was the first collaboration between the Unicorn theater and UMKC.  It provided an interesting contrast in characters and actors that played perfecting into the story.  I thought it was interesting as it showed a young professional trying to navigate the career world, and their reactions.  I suggest this play to anyone interested in a dynamic story not exclusive to the political world.  The Play runs until December 13, 2009 and runs 2 hours with a 15 minute intermission.  Ticket prices range between $12.50 -  $30.00 depending on the night.  There are student discounts, and discounts if you are under the age of 30.  The Unicorn also provides discount annoucements through their twitter page.
